What the host records
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub (a US company, part of Microsoft) processes your IP address to deliver the pages and logs it for security, like any web host. GitHub’s privacy statement applies to that. I don’t receive those logs and I don’t see who visits.
What stays in your browser
- Searching and filtering the fines happens in your browser. What you type isn’t sent anywhere.
- If you press the light/dark button, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It’s never sent to me or anyone else, and you can clear it in your browser settings.
- “Copy citation” only puts text on your clipboard when you press it.
If you email me
I use your address and your message only to reply, and I delete them when they’re no longer needed. My address is a Gmail account, so Google processes those emails. The reason I may do this is my legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
People named in the decisions
The decisions come from regulators’ published decisions, through the CMS Enforcement Tracker and GDPRhub. Companies and public bodies are named as the sources name them. Private individuals are never named here; they’re only described (“Doctor”). I publish this to inform the public about how data protection law is enforced, which is my legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you’re mentioned in a decision and something is wrong, or you’d like it removed, write to me. You can ask to see, correct or delete what concerns you, or object to it, and I’ll answer within one month.
Search engines and AI assistants
The pages are public, so search engines and AI assistants may read them and show them in their results. That’s on purpose: the point of Fino is to make the decisions easy to find.
Who is responsible, and complaints
The site is run by Lorenzo A. You can always complain to a data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK or the authority where you live in the EU.
