What happened
The UK DPA fined a funeral plan service approximately €168,000 (£145,000) for sending direct marketing calls to individuals registered with the Telephone Preference Service who had not given their prior consent to receive calls. In particular, the various data providers that the service contracted with had failed to collect valid consent from individuals, who were not given a genuine choice about whether to accept marketing from third parties.
