What happened
The DPA considered that a school informing the pupils' parents that some professors were on strike did not reveal trade union membership and was therefore not a sensitive data under Article 9 GDPR. However, this processing was not necessary to carry out a public task (i.e. the school's education mission) and therefore lacked legal basis.
